Days after attracting much praise, the viral video of two medical students from Kerala,dancing to the tune of Boney M's 1978 hit song Rasputin has now taken a communal turn. Watch the video below if you haven't seen.



Health professionals around the world are preparing for the second outbreak of the pandemic as the number of cases of Covid-19 continues to climb. In the midst of the crisis, Thrissur Medical College students Janaki Omkumar and Naveen Razak attempted to break the monotony and spread cheer with their dance moves on Boney M’s 1978 hit Euro-disco track ‘Rasputin’.


While the video instantly went viral, it soon took a communal turn, gathering hate as the two students belonged to different religious communities.A lawyer posted a Facebook message this week warning Janaki's parents about their separate religious backgrounds.

Kerala medical students join ‘Rasputin dance challenge’ to protest against hate. To protest against the hate, many medical students across Kerala joined the challenge and are now posting videos while grooving to the peppy beats.


On Friday evening, the college union came up with yet another video of more students dancing to the same music. The video was posted with hashtag #resisthate and captioned, "If your plan is to hate, then we have decided to resist.
