Hydrogen : The Fuel Of Tomorrow

Hydrogen can be considered as the simplest element of life. In the earth's surface, hydrogen is also one of the most common elements. Hydrogen as a gas, however, is not naturally present on Earth and must be produced. This is because, as a consequence, hydrogen gas is lighter than air and rises into the atmosphere. In compound form, natural hydrogen is often correlated with other elements, such as water, coal and petroleum.



Of any common fuel by weight, hydrogen has the highest energy content. On the other hand, by volume, hydrogen has the lowest energy content. It is the lightest component, and at normal temperature and pressure, it is a gas.


Hydrogen as a form of energy

Hydrogen, generally referred to as an energy carrier, is known as a secondary source of energy. In a shape that can be easily used, energy carriers are used to transfer, store and distribute energy. The most well-known example of an energy carrier is electricity.

Hydrogen is often considered a high-efficiency, low-polluting fuel that can be used in areas where it is difficult to use energy for transportation, heating, and power generation. In certain cases, transporting hydrogen by pipeline is cheaper than transmitting electricity by wire over long distances.
